ZînKolektif consists of the lens based artists Aylin Kızıl and Fatma Çelik from Diyarbakır, Serpil Polat from Dersim, Çiğdem Üçüncü from Hanau, Serra Akcan and Gülşin Ketenci from Istanbul.“We have been working together since 2012 in the Turkey-based photographers’ collective NarPhotos where we paid attention to understanding the issues that deeply affect us and the society we live in, documenting and narrating stories by using a visual language that is most natural to us. In late 2023, we founded ZînKolektif where we predominantly produce photography and multimedia works focused on issues such as migration, ecology, gender, war, social injustices and urban transformation. Also, our collective’s members organize visual storytelling workshops for children and adults in Turkey and Germany on a regular basis. We strongly believe in the empowering and elevating aspect of group processes since everything we experience, and also witness via our lenses, is not only personal, but political.”
